Nandamuri Balakrishna (Telugu: నందమూరి బాలకృష్ణ; born 10 June 1960) is an Indian film actor and politician, known for his works exclusively in the Telugu cinema. He is the sixth son of Telugu matinee idol and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. T. Rama Rao. He entered the film industry as a child artist at the age of 14 with the film Tatamma Kala. Known for his break dancing skills, in a film career spanning 40 years he has acted in over ninety eight films, in a variety of roles. Balakrishna has received two state Nandi Awards, and the South Indian International Movie Award for best acting. Balakrishna was the guest of honour at the 43rd International Film Festival of India.
Balakrishna received a breakthrough as an actor in 1984 through films such as Sahasame Jeevitham, the social problem film Janani Janmabhoomi, and Mangammagari Manavadu. He has acted in blockbuster movies through the 1980 films including Kathanayukudu (1984), Muddula krishnayya (1986), Seetharama kalyanam (1986), Apoorva Sahodarudu (1986), Muvva Gopaludu (1987), Inspector Pratap (1988), Muddula Mavayya (1989). He continued his success in 1990s with Nari Nari Naduma Murari (1990), Lorry Driver (1990), Rowdy Inspector (1992), Bangaru Bullodu (1993), Bhairava Dweepam (1994), Peddannayya (1997), and Samarasimha Reddy (1997), all of which fetched him accolades. The year 2001 proved his mark at box office with Narasimha Naidu (2001) fetching him his first Nandi award and a huge mass appeal and also becoming the highest grosser of the year.

The Goa Governor, B.V. Wanchoo, the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Balakrishna were seen along with award winners and other dignitaries at the closing ceremony of the 43rd edition of the IFFI. Balakrishna, in his speech, said that although the Telugu film industry finds no place in the film festival by way of representation to its films, 80 percent of the movies that are produced in India are in regional languages, out of which 50 percent are from South India. "Today, film industry is facing competition from radio, and television as also from piracy," he stated. He also maintained that the film festivals have enlarged his vision towards his career.
