Jason Straatmann - Biography

Jason Straatmann "J" (ジェイ) (Washington, Missouri, United States) is an American actor in Japan (gaikokujin tarento), Korea, and much of Southeast Asia best known for his roles in quirky comedies,[1] drama's,[2] printed advertisements, action figures, and a wide range of television commercial and movie appearances. He is also known for impersonation of famous figures including British Prime Minister David Cameron, former Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning and American Actor Steve McQueen all of whom he is said to resemble. One of his popular nicknames is "McQueen" both for his resemblance to a young Steve McQueen, but also for his love of automotive racing. It is also said he drives a racecar that is uncannily similar to Lightning McQueen, a Pixar animated car.
Since the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami and subsequent Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster Jason has been extensively involved in volunteer NGO work across the nation of Japan, increasing his respect among Japanese who saw many foreigners (Gaijin#Flyjin) flee the country.

He has taught at several universities including Brown Mackie College and has written scholarly books on Japanese culture. His educational background is diverse; he completed an undergraduate in Psychology (2000) and Masters of Arts in Sociology (2001) at Central Missouri State University, a Master’s of Science in Business (2003) at Amberton University and an Engineering Certificate (2009) from Stanford University.
