Renuka Shahane was born on March 27, 1965 in Maharashtra, India. She is an actress and writer, known for Hum Aapke Hain Koun...! (1994), Rita (2009) and Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha (2004). She has been married to Ashutosh Rana since May 25, 2001. They have two children.
Renuka Shahane was born in Maharashtra. She studied Arts (Psychology major) from St. Xavier's College and then Post graduation in Clinical Psychology from Mumbai University. She is married to Ashutosh Rana, also a Bollywood actor. They have two sons; Shauryaman and Satyendra. She was earlier married to Marathi theater writer-director Vijay Kenkare and later divorced. Her first marriage was short-lived. Her brother Girish Shahane is a scholar on contemporary art and serves as Artistic Director for Art fairs and a columnist for Scroll.in.
She became popular after her role in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, a 1994 blockbuster film. She released her first Marathi film as a director, called Rita. Adapted from her mother Shanta Gokhale's novel, Rita Welingkar, Renuka plays the pivotal role of a friend, guide and philosopher of Rita, the protagonist. Rita had Jackie Shroff, Pallavi Joshi, Suhasini Mulay and Mohan Agashe in the cast. She also acted in a Telugu movie Money, produced by Ram Gopal Varma, which was a big hit.
