Comedian Annabelle Gurwitch takes social issues and turns them into provocative entertainment. Her first book "Fired!" was deemed a "merry compendium of failure" by The Washington Post and her eponymous documentary "Fired!" has played everywhere from The Showtime Network to The Labor Department on Capitol Hill. She has been a columnist for The Nation Magazine and a contributing writer and commentator on Day to Day and All Things Considered on NPR targeting everything from politics to pop culture.Annabelle gained a loyal comedic following during her 7-year stint co-hosting the popular "Dinner & a Movie" on TBS. She spent the last three years hosting the carbon foot printing series "WA$TED" for The Planet Green Network. She has hosted shows for The Style Channel, Sci-Fi, The VH1, ABC, The Game Show Network, and as the anchor for the award winning "Not Necessarily the News" on HBO.Her opinionating on shows includes: "Real Time with Bill Maher," "The Today Show," "The CBS Early Show," "Showbiz Tonight," "CNN In the Money," "Fox and Friends," "Politically Incorrect," "Joy Behar," and "Wanda Sykes." In addition, Annabelle has written for Glamour, Marie Claire, Men's Health, Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Magazine. Her essays appear in three anthologies: Note to Self, Rejected, and b*tch in the House. Time Magazine featured Annabelle and her "Fired!" film in their cover story "Ten Ideas That Are Changing the World." On Earth Day, she took millions of viewers on a tour of the largest landfill in the country on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."Her acting credits include over fifty guest starring roles on series including "Dexter," "The Cleaner," "Medium," "Boston Legal," and "Seinfeld." Her films include: "Shaggy Dog," "Daddy Day Care," and "Melvin Goes to Dinner." Annabelle's work off-Broadway in the title role of Murray Mednick's "Joe and Betty" garnered her place in The New York Times Top Ten Performances in Theatre of the Year 2002 and Los Angeles Times Best Performances of the Year 2001.She co-wrote "Tomato" with her husband Emmy Award winning writer, Jeff Kahn.
