Joan Whittlesey Hemingway was born in 1950 as Joan Whittlesey Hemingway. She is an actress and writer, known for Rosebud (1975), Running from Crazy (2013) and Hemingway: Winner Take Nothing (1998).
She is the older sister of Margaux Hemingway and Mariel Hemingway, daughter of Jack and Byra "Puck" Whittlesey Hemingway and granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, the author. She followed in the family tradition begun by her famous grandfather Ernest Hemingway, and became the co-author of the book, "Rosebud", and the coauthor along with Connie Maricich of "The Picnic Gourmet", both of which were published in the mid-1970's.

Ernest Miller Hemingway (July 21, 1899 – July 2, 1961) was an American journalist, novelist, and short-story writer. His economical and understated style—which he termed the iceberg theory—had a strong influence on 20th-century fiction, while his adventurous lifestyle and his public image brought him admiration from later generations. Hemingway produced most of his work between the mid-1920s and the mid-1950s, and he won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. Many of his works are considered classics of American literature.
