Kathleen Tremaine was an actress who was born in 1903 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England as Kathleen Hannah Truscott. She was known for The Lady Vanishes (1938) and The Umbrella (1933).
In England she played in 1935 in the play Viceroy Sarah by Norman Ginsbury in the ensemble to Irene Vanbrugh, Barbara Everest and Margaret Webster. In the late 1970s she played successfully the role of Mrs. Chichester alongside Gibson Glass and Mary E. Baird in the Off-Broadway production of the play Peg o 'My Heart by J. Hartley Manners in New York listed by the Lion Theater Company.
In England, Tremaine appeared in only a few films as an actress, including in 1933 directed by Redd Davis in the comedy The Umbrella in the role of Mary Wynne on the side of fellow actors like Kay Hammond, Harold French and Victor Stanley. In 1938, the director Alfred Hitchcock occupied her in his successful crime comedy A lady disappears. There she played the open-hearted maid Anna, the two cricket lovers Caldicott Naunton Wayne and Charters Basil RadfordRepeatedly embarrassing them with their naively friendly, erotically permissive nature.
