Dana James Food Coach NYCDana is a nutritionist that specializes in functional medicine. She encourages women to be "feminine, fluid and free from their food obsessions" as her blog bio states. She owns her own practice in New York City called Food Coach NYC, which focuses on holistic nutrition and functional medicine.I discovered Dana back in late 2011, right when I was finally and successfully, recovering from binge eating after my anorexia recovery. I had just taken on the huge challenge of going my own route to recover from starving and binging, when the traditional textbook "eat anything you want" didn't work for me.I had a large, messy past with food, that started in my childhood, and stemmed from issues I've dealt with my whole life, including, but not limited to: food addictions, hormonal issues, and yeast imbalances that all made me crave sugar, refined carbs and junk food. These foods also contributed to my lifelong battle with anxiety,and depression tendencies. I don't think carbs are the devil, but too many of them are NOT my friend. I read Dana's blog and recognized that she too, had struggled with eating issues, food sensitivities, binging and other issues like I had, and hadn't taken the traditional method to "eat anything you want to" to overcome these problematic issues.
