Leandro Maeder - Biography
Leandro Pink (Leo) Maeder is an American fashion model of Italian, Swiss and Dutch descent. He is a grandson of Dutch actor Rutger Hauer.
Maeder is a son of Aysha Hauer, daughter of Rutger Hauer, and the Italian Olimpio Monticelli. At a young age he moved with his parents to Los Angeles. Leandro is derived from the flower Oleander and Pink is from the pop group Pink Floyd. At the age of two, he was placed out of the house and from the age of sixteen he attended a private school for children who were difficult to educate, he said in an interview with De Telegraaf on 5 August 2007. His father returned to Rome when Maeder was eleven years old. That is why he dropped his name and chose Maeder. His adoptive mother is called Kathleen O'Leary.
Maeder was discovered in 2005 by a scout from Blue Model Management in Beverly Hills. He earned his living by mopping floors for seven dollars a day in a bagel shop. His first job was a photo shoot for the American chain Target. He has since become the face of brands such as Dsquared2, Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana.
