Tobie Cronje - Biography
Tobie Cronje is an African actor (stage, TV and film). He drama at the University of Pretoria studied. Then he worked for a car insurance company and gave music lessons. He made his debut in the film The Sergeant and the Tiger Moth.
Cronjé is famous for his spell in the likes of My wife's husband's wife and my wife's body's suitcase, and his annual interpretations of "ladies" in Janice Honeyman's pantomimes for the Nelson Mandela Theater in Johannesburg. However, he is also a strong dramatic player, as he proved in the title role of Chris Barnard's Man on vacation and in other roles in, among others, the rebellion of Lafras Verwey and I Love My Wife.
He makes his debut in the film Die Sergeant and the Tiger Moth. Other funny movies, such as Babbelkous and Bruidegom (1974) and Kootjie Emmer (1977), increased his popularity further.
Cronjé has become a household name in the early years of local television, as Willem in a comic comedy series. After that he appeared in the many TV productions, such as Binnelanders and Onder, the devil around.
