Allie Michelle - Biography

Welcome. Thanks for stopping by.About-AllieA little about myself – I grew up in Los Angeles, and moved around a lot of different schools trying to find a place in which I could be myself. I was painfully shy and found it difficult to speak up at school. I also suffered from stomach and digestive problems from allergies to gluten and dairy, and had to miss a year of high school. I’d always felt boxed in by school anyway. My mom is an artist and my dad is a chiropractor and I have always been interested in the creative, holistic side of things. Happily, I fell in love with ballet while at school, but then tore a ligament in my knee and had to stop. However, there was an unexpected bright side. A friend suggested I try yoga, mentioning it could help with injuries. I soon found that daily practice allowed me to walk and dance again. I found that yoga also helped with my digestive issues, helping me become more in tune with my body so I could feel what was to my highest good or not.Last year, when I was trying to decide whether or not to go to college, I realized my heart wasn’t in it, but I was uncertain of what to do next. I attended a new yoga studio where I was told about a 200-hour teacher-training program. Tingles went through my spine. Instead of going to college, I decided to become a yoga instructor. The yoga program was a life-altering experience. I had to learn how to command a room and create a safe space for others. The training allowed me to find my voice and step into my power, and begin to help others do so as well.I teach yoga regularly now. So many different individuals come into my classes, each facing their own set of challenges. Everything changes inside the safe space of the class. An opening is created where people feel safe to be vulnerable and allow the postures to bring up buried emotion. It’s amazing to watch people grow inside a protected place in which they can express themselves through mind, body and soul.Thank you for visiting my site and for following me on social media. I want to share my passion for yoga, spirituality, healthy eating and a few other of my favorite things with you. I hope that by exchanging interests and passions, we can encourage each other to become more conscious and to take small, daily steps towards what makes each of us happy and healthy.
