Barry Barnes - Biography
Barry Barnes attended the Gaiety School of Acting and since 1987 has tread the boards in many productions at the Abbey Theatre at the Gate. At the Abbey theatre shows include; Drama at Inish and Translations; at the Gate The Shadow of a Gunman and Twelfth Night among others. He has worked often with Druid Theatre Company, Rough Magic Theatre Co. and The Gaiety.He has also performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London. He recently appeared in Gúa Nua’s production of Chicane, and The Talk of The Town with the Hatch Theatre Company at the Project Arts Centre.Barry has a wealth of experience in film and television. He has appeared as Sean in No Tears for RTE; as Graham in Joel Schumacher’s Veronica Guerin; Larry in Thaddeus O’Sullivan’s Ordinary Decent Criminal and Mairtín in Tom Collins’ Kings. The latter was the first Irish-language feature to be nominated in the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ category at the Academy Awards.Most recently Barry has worked on Titanic: Blood & Steel, All Is By My Side, as well as The Enigma of Frank Ryan, Corp agus Anam and Single Handed.2013 has seen Barry cast in the TV adaptation of the Benjamin Black Quirke series.Barry is also an accomplished voice over artist.He is based in Dublin.
