Boleta - Biography
Daniel Medeiros, aka ‘Boleta’, was born in São Paulo (Brazil), where he started his career in street art in 1990, by performing ‘pixação’, a unique Brazilian writing style. In 1994, he also started to develop his work as a graffiti writer. As a self-taught artist, became known and respected for having an outstanding painting style, which is full of feeling and colors. Boleta represents the psychedelic school of Brazilian graffiti and among his primer influences and references are the tattoo iconography, the psychedelia of the 60’s and 70’s, the mysticism and elements of nature. All these elements and influences are merged with the symbolism of the ‘little birds’ and the ‘skulls’; characters which are constantly present in his artwork and refer to the imagetic of the human behavior and personal experiences. The construction of his drawings results in an original style — rich with line work, colors, attention-grabbing forms and figures.
