Charles Joseph "Charlie" Melançon (/məˈlɑːnsɒn/ mə-LAHN-son; born October 3, 1947) was the U.S. Representative for Louisiana's 3rd congressional district, serving from 2005 to 2011, and the unsuccessful 2010 Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican David Vitter.
