Christian Donald Laettner (/ˈleɪtnər/, LAYT-nər; born August 17, 1969) is a retired basketball player whose hall-of-fame career for the Duke Blue Devils is widely regarded as one of the greatest in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) history. He was the star player on the back-to-back National Championship teams of 1991 and 1992. He is particularly famous for his iconic game-winning shot against Kentucky in the 1992 regional final and for the hatred he received from opposing fans.
