Daechelle Hernandez - Biography
Daechelle is a graduate of California Connections Academy. As a singer, actress, and model, Daechelle needed a high quality education that offered the flexibility to accomplish all of her dreams. She found the school she needed in Connections Academy. Her mother tells her story below."At the early age of three, this honor student started her career in front of the camera. She worked in print and ramp modeling with Wal-Mart, Parent Magazine, National University, Cotton Kids, and Disguise Magazine, and she was featured in fashion shows, catalogs, and Halloween costume packages.Daechelle showed her most prominent talent at many family karaoke functions. She never hesitated to entertain her family and friends with her mature and soulful voice. At the ripe young age of seven, she entered many competitions and talent showcases, taking home trophies, prizes, and local recognition. Her burning desire to compete stirred up her interests in other contests, including an international beauty pageant—she was crowned Little Miss Philippines Universe in 2005.Daechelle is a Billboard Award Winner and multilingual singer (Spanish and Tagalog). Her song "Fearless" placed first in the pop category in the 2006 Billboard Songwriting Contest over 18,000 song entries worldwide. Additionally, the International Songwriting Competition awarded it first place in the People’s Voice Award. The song was featured in a climactic scene in the Lionsgate movie Bratz, and it is the main track on the official movie soundtrack. She was only 12 years old.She represents organizations that help spread her message to children everywhere: ‘Be fearless, and nothing is impossible.’ She toured with ‘Jeans Bring Dreams,’ empowering teens and tweens throughout the United States and helping local charities by collecting jeans for the homeless. She was also the spokesperson for ‘Champions Against Bullying,’ making a difference and building awareness.Daechelle was able to accomplish all of these goals—along with her academics—as a student at California Connections Academy. She says, ‘Thanks to Connections Academy, I was able to get the best of both worlds: accomplishing my dream as a recording artist and focusing on my grades that will get me into college.'"Since graduating, Daechelle has attended St. John’s University.
