Donna Axum - Biography
Donna Idelle Axum was an American beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss America in 1964. Donna was born on January 3, 1942 in El Dorado, Arkansas, USA as Donna Idelle Axum. She has been married to J. Bryan Whitworth since March 1, 1984. She was previously married to Gus Franklin Mutscher and Michael Alan Buckley.
Axum is from El Dorado, Arkansas. Her Miss America scholarship was used to complete her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in speech/drama, television and film. While there, she was a member of the Delta Iota Chapter of Delta Delta Delta.
Axum first married Michael Alan Buckley and had one child, Lisa. She later divorced Buckley and in 1969 married Gus Franklin Mutscher, who served as Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives from 1969 to 1972 and later as the Washington County judge. The pair also divorced in 1972.
She married J. Bryan Whitworth on March 1, 1984. He is a former executive vice president of ConocoPhillips. The Whitworths live in Fort Worth, Texas. Collectively, they have five children and ten grandchildren.
