Elizabeth Anne McDonald - Biography

Dean Martin's First wife, Betty McDonald, tried by all accounts to be a good wife and mother to their 4 children, but her efforts were ultimately undone by her Alcoholism. It remains a matter of speculation whether her alcoholism led to the failure of the marriage, or whether Martin's infidelities led to Betty's alcoholism. Martin gained custody of their children; Betty Lived out her life in quiet obscurity in San Francisco.
Dean Martin (born Dino Paul Crocetti; June 7, 1917 – December 25, 1995) was an American singer, actor, comedian, and producer. One of the most popular and enduring American entertainers of the mid-20th century, Martin was nicknamed "The King of Cool" for his seemingly effortless charisma and self-assurance. He and Jerry Lewis formed the immensely popular comedy duo Martin and Lewis, with Martin serving as the straight man to Lewis' slapstick hijinks.

Elizabeth was born in Ridley Park and lived in Swarthmore about 18 years. She was a graduate of the Class of 1940 at Swarthmore High School, where she was an outstanding athlete and captain of the lacrosse and hockey teams in her senior year. She is survived by four children, Craig, Claudia, Gail and Dina; and four sisters. Funeral services were held in California. After her body was cremated, the ashes were scattered over the San Francisco Bay.
