Monique Melinand is a French actress who was born on March 9, 1916. She was born in Paris, Ile-de-France as Monique Marianne Gabrielle Camille Mélinand. She was an actress, known for Blood to the Head (1956), Katia (1959) and Man with the Transplanted Brain (1971).
She has a great career in the theater. Without ever being a star devoted to the cinema, she holds the main role of La Pocharde (1953) but also in La Gueule ouverte of Maurice Pialat. She is the unfaithful wife of Jean Gabin in The Blood in the Head (1956). She also toured with Henri Verneuil, Jacques Rouffio. She was the companion of Louis Jouvet until his death in 1951, then the wife of Jean Martinelli from 1952 to 1964, and finally the companion of André Thorent. She is the mother of Agathe Mélinand and the godmother of Sylvie Dorléac the little sister of Françoise Dorléac and Catherine Deneuve. She died on May 16, 2012 in Paris, France.
