Sara Fountain - Biography
Ever since she was a little girl, Sara loved to cook, bake and throw parties. She is now delighted to have been able to turn her passion for good food, party ideas and beautiful table settings into a full-time occupation. Newcomer and half-American, half-Finnish Sara La Fountain is now joining the all-star cast from New Scandinavian Cooking for a new program, Perfect Day. Sara is new to the U.S. public, but in her home country she is an established media personality with her own 10-episode cooking show called Avec Sara, which aired in 2005 on Finnish TV channel MTV3. Since launching her own business, Sara has catered events for numerous corporate clients. The cooking classes she teaches are tailored to the nature of each occasion and planned around the finest seasonal ingredients available. The classes are all about learning to make new dishes and drinks and having fun doing it!Sara is currently designing a signature line of dinnerware for the Finnish kitchenware company Luhta Home. The line is called “Á la Sara” and consists of an exciting range of pattern designs. Sara has also designed different kitchen textiles for Luhta Home (aprons etc), and she is now working on a new line of professional kitchen shoes with colorful prints for the Swedish company Ejandals. Sara attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York, one of the world`s premier cooking colleges. She published her first cookbook also entitled Á la Sara in October 2005. The first print run sold out quickly and in May 2006 the book was selected as the winner of the prestigious Gourmand World Cookbook Awards category of “Best First Cookbook.” This fall she released a new book for the Finnish market titled Täydellinen Päivä, based on the Perfect Day series. A second English book will be ready for launch in the near future.Sara has published recipes and articles for several newspapers and for leading Finnish magazines Seura and Ilta-Sanomat.
