Silvia Gallini Art DepartmentSilvia Gallini was born on in Varese, Lombardy, Italy.Silvia Gallini is an Italian painter and film director. She holds an MFA in Writing and Producing for Television from the Catholic University Milan, Italy, and another MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute Conservatory, Los Angeles, USA.Silvia is a mix of Italian, British and Dutch and was born and raised in Varese, Italy, a small Prealpine town on the border of Switzerland, surrounded by 7 lakes. In 2002 she graduated in Theatre History from the Catholic University in Milan where she also got a Masters' Degree in Writing and Producing for TV in 2003. Silvia spent a year and a half reading and analyzing feature scripts in Rome, and enjoying the dolce vita. When she moved to LA in 2005 to study film at UCLA and UCLA Extension, she met artist Joe Blaustein who became her mentor and guided her into becoming the artist she is today. She has been drawing and painting in his classes for 10 years. Joe is 92 years old, has been teaching for over 50 years and and has mentored hundreds of artists.Silvia also earned an MFA in Film Directing from the American Film Institute, graduating in 2010. She is currently wrapping post-production with her first full-length documentary "The Dog and the Duck", a film about art and mentorship, and finding your own voice. Silvia now belongs to LA based art associations (LAAA and Pacific Palisades Art Association), showing her work locally. FOX TV bought the rights to display her art in episode 5 of the new TV show "Weird Loners".She won first prize in the Painting category in a recent exhibit at PPAA and is currently showcasing her artwork in art fairs in Los Angeles, such as the Beverly Hills Art Show, the Malibu Art Show, and many others.In April 2015 baby zebra finch Swami came into her life after being accidentally abandoned by his parents, and since then Silvia paints with Swami perched on her.RECENT AND UPCOMING SHOWSMay 2015: Beverly Hills Art Show, Beverly Hills, CA
