Victoria Vantoch - Biography
Victoria Vantoch is a historian and journalist whose work has appeared in The Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report, and The Los Angeles Times. She has received numerous honors for her work on airline stewardesses including a Smithsonian Institution Guggenheim Fellowship and a NASA Aerospace History Fellowship.Vantoch has written on everything from fashion to sexuality to architectural preservation; taught history to college students; and lectured at venues around the country such as the National Air and Space Museum, the Organization of American Historians, and the Library of Congress. She holds a doctorate in history from the University of Southern California.
Misha Collins and Victoria Vantoch reportedly met in high school. They’ve been together ever since, marrying in October of 2001. Their vow-renewal ceremony in 2011 is perhaps even more noteworthy than their wedding. Why? They held the ceremony in a supermarket and dressed in drag. Misha even held a bouquet of vegetables to finish off the look. Obviously, both Vantoch and Collins have a wicked sense of humor!
Vantoch is also known as a sexuality historian, and she relied on that expertise when writing her most recent book, “The Jet Sex: Airline Stewardesses and the Making of an American Icon.” This project was published in 2013.
