Amy Frank - Biography

Amy grew up in Pearland, Texas and knew from a very young age she wanted to go into medicine. She geared her high school career toward a science based curriculum and graduated number 6 in her class. During this time, she served as a Colonel of the local drill team and held many offices with school based organizations. She then attended Texas A & M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 1993. While in college, she was a member of Chi Omega and headed an athletic support organization where she completed many charitable activities, including volunteering for MHMRA. It was here where Amy started her first job in medicine at a local Alzheimer unitShe continued her education at Baylor College of Medicine when she was accepted into their Physician Assistant Program in 1994. During her postgraduate education, she worked at The Texas Heart Institute Clinical Research Department and volunteered with Life Gift Foundation. She represented her school on the board of Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and completed her thesis on The Quality of Life in Cardiac Transplant Recipients in 1996. Amy then graduated with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and received her national certification after completing her board exam in 1997. Amy has worked as a Physician Assistant in the Katy area since graduation.Amy resides in Sugar Land, Texas with her spouse and daughter. She loves dance, cooking, photography and scrapbooking.Amy enjoys both western based medicine and natural, homeopathic, and alternative medicine. She believes in individualizing her approach to medical problems based on the specific patient history and circumstances. She enjoys acute medical issues including infectious disease, injuries of the joint and soft tissues, and pain syndromes. She also performs routine wellness exams and management of cardiac, gastric and endocrine disorders. Amy enjoys minor surgical procedures such as mole/wart removals, laceration repairs, and joint injections. She has a special interest in women’s health issues and loves managing adolescent patients as well as children.
