Derek Hallquist - Biography
Derek Hallquist's footage aired on WCAX prime time news in Vermont when he was 14 years old. At 16, he shot his first short documentary about a youth group organization in Oaxaca, Mexico. His work in high school earned him a VSAC scholarship to attend Emerson College. In 2005, He received his BA in Filmmaking and started a career in LA shooting TV shows for the Discovery networks. Derek was Director of Photography for The House I Live In, which won the 2012 Grand Jury Prize and aired on Independent Lens. He also shot extensively for Reagan, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011 and won an Emmy Award. Derek's production company, Green River Pictures, released his short documentary The Opiate Effect in, 2011. Former Attorney General Eric Holder used it for outreach and it's part of the Library of Congress. His first feature film, Denial, will be released nationwide in, 2016.
