Gaby André - Biography
Gaby André (1920–1972) was a French film actress. She was born on March 5, 1920 in Châlons-sur-Marne, Marne, France as Gabrielle Louise Mathilde Andreu. She was known for La vendetta di Ercole (1960), Highway 301 (1950) and Giuseppe Verdi (1953).
She made her debut at a very young age in French cinema in small parts, to then acquire notoriety in the post-war period, until 1949, when she was called by a US producer. She moved briefly to Hollywood to work on some films.
Back in Europe, in 1951 she left for Rome, where she will be the protagonist of musical and historical sentimental dramas, typical of the forties and fifties, including The Angel of Sin (1952), directed by Leonardo De Mitri and Vittorio Carpignano. In Italy he will work until 1969.
She was married to Eli Smith. In 1953, in Paris, she gave birth to her daughter Carole André, also destined to become an actress, and with whom she will work in the film Remove the legs from the windshield (1969).
She died on August 27, 1972 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.
