Helena Majdaniec - Biography
Helena Majdaniec (1941-2002) was a Polish big beat singer and film actor, "the queen of Polish Twist". Helena Majdaniec cooperated with Niebiesko-Czarni, Czerwono-Czarni, Karin Stanek, Olivia Newton-John, Cliff Richard and Demis Roussos. She performed mainly in Szczecin and Paris.
She was born in Mylsk, in Volhynia, in the Orthodox family, as a daughter of Filemon and Lidia Majdańców. From 1946 she lived in Szczecin, where in 1960 she graduated from the First High School. Maria Skłodowska-Curie and 2nd level music school. She debuted in 1962 in Szczecin in the student club "Pinocchio". In 1962 she appeared on the 2nd MFP in Sopot, and in 1963 the FPP in Opole. From 1963, she recorded CDs. In the 1960s, she performed, among others, in Paris " Olympia " and in Switzerland, Yugoslavia, Hungary and Poland.
In 1968, she immigrated to France, settled in Paris, where she sang in the cabarets "Raspoutine" and "Shéhérazade", she also worked for French radio and television. She also performed in Canada, Kuwait, Morocco. In 1970 she took part in the concert "50 years of Polish song" in Poland and the USA.
On January 16, 2002, she took part together with Karin Stanek in the interviews in-progress. Two days later she died suddenly in her home in Szczecin. On January 24, 2002, the singer was buried with the ashes of the singer in a family grave at the Central Cemetery in Szczecin (plot 24 A). Her name is the Summer Theater in Szczecin.
