João Falcão - Biography
João Falcão was born on September 20, 1958. He is a Brazilian director, writer and composer. He was married to the writer Adriana Falcão, with whom he had two daughters, the singer, songwriter and comedian Clarice Falcão and Maria Isabel.
The youngest of thirteen brothers, João Falcão grew up in Uzina Tiúma, in the Zona da Mata Pernambucana. He moved to Recife and, at the age of 21, made a stir in the city with the musical " Muito Pelo Contrário" (1981) - his debut as director, writer and composer of the same show. That's what happened The Little Sand Grain, Half Face, Seeing Stars, Mama Can not Know, and so many others: her crusade was declared against the mania of treating the theater with such solemnity.
He moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1996, when he adapted and directed Moliére's classic The Bourgeois Ridicule, in partnership with Guel Arraes - and with him shared the Sharp Prize for Best Show. Still in the 90s, he excelled writing, directing and musicing The Dona da História (1997), made especially for Marieta Severo and Andréa Beltrão; and A Night on the Moon (1998), his first monologue, starring Marco Nanini.
For the latter, he won the Shell and Sharp Awards for text and direction. Still with Nanini and Marieta, adapted and directed Who is afraid of Virgínia Woolf in 2001.
