Krešimir Zimonić - Biography
Krešimir Zimonić is a Croatian cartoonist, illustrator and animator who was born on February 21, 1956. He finished elementary school in Vinkovci, followed by the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. The group consists of the most distinguished Croatian comic writers and the most prominent representative of the younger generation of the Zagreb School of Cartoon Film.
Comic books and illustrations are published continuously from the mid-seventies. Since 1979 he has been working professionally on an animated film. First, as an animator and main artist, and since 1983 and as an independent director. In 1981 he was granted the status of an independent artist.
He is a member of the famous group Novi kvadrat, and also was a graphic and visual editor, Modre laste, art director of the Salon of comics in Vinkovci, editor of the strip magazine "Patak", and one of the founders and multi-year president of the Croatian Society of Comics writers. For several years he has been working as an artistic director of Zagreb Film, and was a member of numerous panel commissions, and since 1992 and a member of the Council of the World Festival of Animated Film in Zagreb. He participated in many exhibitions, and for his creations he received a series of domestic and international awards and recognitions.
Since 2000 he has been the holder of the Order of the Danica of Croatia with the image of Marko Marulić for his special merit in culture. In the course of many years of fruitful symbiosis with the list for young people "Modra lasta", Zlatka, a character of exceptional popularity, is now considered one of the anthological characters of the Croatian comic book.
