Lonnie Mack was born on July 18, 1941 in Harrison, Indiana, USA as Lonnie McIntosh. He died on April 21, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.Trivia (6)Blues guitarist.Mentioned in the song "Life Is a Rock But the Radio Rolled Me" by Reunion.He considered Merle Travis and Robert Ward (of the Ohio Untouchables) as his main guitar influences, and George Jones and Bobby Bland as vocal inspirations.He was inducted into the International Guitar Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.He quit school in sixth grade, and formed his first band, Lonnie Mack and the Twilighters, at age 13. He started out playing roadhouses in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. He became a session musician, backing stars such as James Brown, Freddie King and Hank Ballard. In 1963, at the end of another artist's recording session, he cut an instrumental version of Chuck Berry's "Memphis." He didn't even know that it was released as a single until he heard it played on the radio. It became a top-5 hit.He was an influence on Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Jimmy Page.
