Mari Paraíba - Biography

Mariana Andrade Costa, also known as Mari Paraíba (born 30 July 1986) is a Brazilian female volleyball player. She is part of the Brazil women's national volleyball team. On club level she played for Osasco Voleibol Clube (2001–06), EC Pinheiros (2006-07) and Minas Tênis Clube (2011–12, 2015–16). She currently plays for Voléro Zürich.
Due to her mother's influence, Mariana started playing volleyball at 10 years of age. For standing out among the teammates, she went to Sollys / Osasco, where between the basic and professional categories, she stayed for almost six years.

In June 2012, she signed to be cover of Playboy Brazil. During the magazine's campaign announced it would leave the next volley, since "the players are already training for over a month, it would be difficult to get into the rhythm," with the possibility of playing again. Later she would say that the sabbatical was beneficial for getting out of the "routine of training and playing since age 14" for nine months, making Mari rediscover interest in volleyball.
Feeling lack of volleyball, she accepted an invitation from his friend Alexandre Peres and went to play beach volleyball. She received the idea of ​​trying the sport well, and after talking and testing with coach Ednílson Costa, she started training at the Army Physical Education School (Esefex) in Urca. In January 2013, stimulated by Olympic medalist Raquel Peluci, revealed that she would become a beach volleyball player.
