Orish Grinstead - Biography

Orish Grinstead was a singer who was born on June 2, 1980.
A native of Las Vegas, she was a founding member with her twin sister Irish, and older sister Lameisha of the rhythm and blues group 702 in the early 1990s. Formerly known as Sweeta Than Suga the group was originally a quartet which also included a cousin. Changing the band's name to 702 in honor of their area code, they released their debut album, "No Doubt" in 1996. The album soon went gold after it's release. This was soon followed by another album, "702" in 1999, which also included their biggest hit, "Where My Girls At."

The album went platinum, while the single landed on the pop charts reaching the top-five spot that same year. As a singer for the group Orish can also be heard on such recordings as "Get It Together", "All I Want", "Steelo", and Subway's hit single "This Lil Game We Play." Though there were many changes over the years with the group's lineup Orish managed to stay with them off and on. She left in 2001, but returned in 2003 shortly before they disbanded.
On April 20, 2008, she passed away from complications of kidney failure and cancer. Shortly before her death it was announced that the original members of 702 were thinking about getting back together and releasing a new album.
