Renee Salud - Biography
Renee Salud is a Filipino designer and actor. He is work on Of the Flesh (1983), P.S. I Love You (1981) and Da Best in da West 2: Da Western Pulis Istori (1996).
He showcased the Philippines’ indigenous weaves at a fashion show attended by Berlin’s diplomatic corps, members of the media, and locals in March 2018. The event, entitled "The Philippines: A Tropical Tapestry," was a musical fashion show that featured Salud’s designs and performances by the Ryan Cayabyab singers.
“I go around the Philippines and I have the opportunity to talk to the different weavers from all over the country. For instance, the T'nalak [by the T'boli tribe of South Cotabato] because I had the opportunity to talk to them, I asked them what are the sensibilities with regards to using the fabric. They said there's none. Gone are those days that they are very sensitive about it because they have to move forward,” the designer told ABS-CBN News.
