Ryan Ong Palao - Biography
Ongina (born Ryan Ong Paolo) is a Drag Queen from Los Angeles, California. She was part of Season 1 of RuPaul's Drag Race and was eliminated on episode 5.
Ongina was best known on RuPaul's Drag Race for her sweetness, her fashionable runway presentations, and for coming out to the world about being diagnosed with HIV. He was diagnosed as HIV-positive on April 13, 2006.
Palao, under the name Ongina, was selected as one of nine contestants for the inaugural season of RuPaul's Drag Race, and was officially announced on February 2, 2009. She revealed her status as HIV positive in the fourth episode where she won her second challenge. She was eliminated in the next episode after losing a lip sync to "Stronger" by Britney Spears against eventual winner Bebe Zahara Benet, placing her in fifth. She made an appearance in the "Extra Special Edition" mid-season recap episode next to RuPaul.
Outside of season 1, she made a cameo appearance on the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars. She
