Acoustic soul-pop blends beautifully with the aftermath of love on the Danish singer/ song writers heart-wrenching second album, which is colored by the last few turbulent years where sorrow and pain unfolded in the midst of massive musical success. When Thomas Barsoe in winter 2005 released his debut album `Better Man`, an adventure second to none began. The Danish soul singer made it big time, especially in Asia and as the first Danish artist ever, managed to conquer the top spot in the music chart in Japan, the worlds second largest market. For Thomas it`s been a time of experiencing, growing, learning, reflecting...but most of all appreciating the incredible journey he has been on, which has brought along heaps of new creative energy and the songs on Read Between The Lines reveals a more mature and vulnerable artist who, with huge talent, bravery and poetic flair, spills his heart out in his music and words and reaches a whole new depth and credibility as an artist. Where the words on Read Between The Lines circles around the mystery and darkness of love, the arrangements are far more simple and acoustic than on the debut album and is all recorded with a live band. Nothing is hidden behind big productions and expensive recording studios. Partly because of Thomas`s philosophy of - ``if a song does not work on my piano or guitar alone, it`s quite simply not good enough``. And the fact that the organic and soulful album came to life in the small hours at his loft apartment in Copenhagen really shows. There is an intimacy and `journal` like nerve throughout Read Between The Lines...``It has been an incredible place for me to make my album. It`s so important that the vibe is right in order for me to perform my best during recordings, and that is not always the case in a fancy studio at 10 in the morning. Here at home I have had the opportunity to sit with a cup of tea in the middle of the night and sing and play. I have really dug deep emotionally this time. This album is extremely personal and 100 percent me and hopefully people will be able to tell` Thomas explains and is not intimidated by the huge expectations worldwide to the songs following up the massive success of his debut.
