Father of Anna Thalbach (together with Katharina Thalbach). His sister is actress and singer Sanda Weigl. Son of Egon Weigl and Irina Weigl née Herscovici. Grandson of Arthur and Emma Weigl. Actress and director Helene Weigel, widow of Bertolt Brecht, is a cousin of his father.
From 1972 to 1973 Vladimir Weigl was married to the actress Katharina Thalbach; The actress Anna Thalbach emerged from this marriage. Vladimir Weigl's sister Sanda Weigl is also an actress and singer. The actress and artistic director Helene Weigel, the widow of Bertolt Brecht, is a cousin of his father Egon Weigl.
