Aamir Khan (Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan born on 14 March 1965), is an Indian film actor, director, producer, singer, television talk show host, and philanthropist. Through his career in Hindi films, Khan has established himself as one of the most popular and influential actors of Indian cinema. He has been described by Forbes as the "The World's Biggest Movie Star" and "The new King of Bollywood". Aamir Khan was also featured in the Time 100 list. Foreign media referred Aamir Khan as "Mr.Perfectionist", 'King of the Khans', and 'King of Bollywood'.
Aamir Khan is that of a globally recognized actor, an astute producer, and a hit maker and has a significant following across the Asian continent as well as among the Indian diaspora worldwide, and is cited in the media as a superstar with astute business sense. His movies have earned more money at the global box office than any other actor in Indian cinema history. According to Forbes and Telegraph, Aamir Khan's remuneration for Dangal is the highest fee for any actor in the world. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including four National Film Awards and nine Filmfare Awards, as well as an Academy Award nomination. He was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010.
Khan married Reena Dutta, who had a small part in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, on 18 April 1986. They have two children, a son named Junaid and a daughter, Ira. Reena was involved briefly in Khan's career when she worked as a producer for Lagaan. In December 2002, Khan filed for divorce. Reena took custody of both children.
On 28 December 2005, Khan married Kiran Rao, who had been an assistant director to Ashutosh Gowariker during the filming of Lagaan. On 5 December 2011, Khan and his wife announced the birth of their son, Azad Rao Khan, through a surrogate mother. In 2007, Khan lost a custody battle for his younger brother Faisal to their father, Tahir Hussain. His father died on 2 February 2010.
