Carola Braunbock - Biography

Carola Braunbock (1924–1978) was a Czech-born East German stage, television and film actress. She was born to an ethnically German family in the newly created Czechoslovakia. She was known for Man of Straw (1951), Frau Venus und ihr Teufel (1967) and Mandragola (1961). Frau Venus und ihr Teufel is a DEFA German comedy by Ralf Kirsten from 1967. The filming took place on the Wartburg in Thuringia. The costumes were created by Elli-Charlotte Löffler, the film buildings are by Hans Poppe and Jochen Keller. It was the first major film role for Ursula Werner, who was still acting student at the time of filming.
The Kaiser's Lackey (German: der Untertan; also known in English as Man of Straw and The Loyal Subject) is a 1951 East German film directed by Wolfgang Staudte, based on Heinrich Mann's 1918 satirical novel by the same name.
