He was living in a homeless shelter in Portland, Oregon at the time of his death.On 25 April 1980, Cowboy Lang defeated The Tokyo Kid (Shegeri Akabane) to hold the World Midgets' Championship of the National Wrestling Alliance; in a rematch, Lang was defeated by the Kid (who reclaimed the title) in December of 1981.
