Donald F. Muhich, 80, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Saint Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach, Calif.He was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Eveleth, to Anthony L. and Frances K. Muhich. He grew up in Eveleth and attended the schools there. After high school he continued his education at the University of St. Thomas and graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1956.Don completed his residency program at Langley Porter Psychiatric Institution in San Francisco in 1962. Along with a successful private practice, he made many innovative and important contributions to community mental health centers both in Minnesota and California.During high school, Donald was an accomplished thespian. As an adult he continued his acting, performing in a series of movies.He is survived by his former wife, Mary Louise Viger Muhich; son, Peter Muhich; his daughters, Anne Muhich (Brett McDaniel), and Jane Muhich; his grandson, Iain McDaniel; his aunts, Anna Kendall, Agnes Ready, Regina O'Donnell, Florence Kochevar; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Frances; and his two brothers, Ralph A. Muhich, and Robert L. Muhich.
