Geoffrey Shob Neau - Biography

First learning to play the bass at the age of 14, Shob has been a member of various rock and heavy metal bands ever since. Most notably he was the bass player for the group Eths, Keishah and was featured in videos for specialized magazines (“Bassiste Magazine” and “Batterie Magazine”) alongside former bandmate Morgan Berthet, with whom he’s been touring since 2009 as part of their master class project. Over the past five years, his various experiences have allowed him to share the stage with several famous bands in different shows and festivals. These bands include Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Machine Head, Jamiroquai, Alanis Morissette, the Kooks, Infectious Grooves, Fishbone, Sick of it all, Serj Tankian, Within Temptation, Cavalera's Conspiracy, Biffy Clyro, Millencolin, Iggy Pop, Queens of the stone age, Mnemic, The Haunted, Soilwork, Queensryche, At the Gates,Venom, in flames, Dimmu Borgir, Carcass, Testament, Paradise lost, Katatonia, Mayhem, Madball, Marduk, Septic flesh, Helloween, Apocalyptica, iced earth, Ministry, Porcupine tree, Slayer, Motorhead, NOFX, Opeth, Morbid Angel, Meshuggah, At the gates, Rose Tatoo, and Dillinger Escape Plan. BACKGROUND:He graduated with honours and a major in bass playing in 2003, from the M.A.I. of Nancy (International Music School), where he received lessons from such legends as: Jean Bisello, Pascal Mulot, Franck Aghulon, Philippe Gonnand, Benoit Vanderstraten, Rémy Chaudagne, Dominique di Piazza, Pierre Jean Gaucher, Jean Marie Viguier, and Christophe Godin. At the end of his training, Shob was offered a position playing bass in MO’s (the jazz band of RP Morellini, head of the M.A.I.) and toured afterward with several bands, such as Keishah (eponymous EP released in 2005), a heavy metal band based in Southern France. Previously, Shob had earned his first band experience as a member of Cirkus (who shared the stage with famous bands: Out, Watcha, Pleymo and Gojira), and who had recorded an LP called “Contradiktion” in collaboration with Stephane Buriez (Loudblast) in 2002.
