John A. Costelloe (November 1961 – December 18, 2008) was an American actor best known for his role as Jim "Johnny Cakes" Witowski, the gay fireman lover of Vito Spatafore, in the HBO TV series The Sopranos. Costelloe, a former FDNY firefighter in real life, died on December 18, 2008 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his Sunset Park home in Brooklyn. He was 47. Shortly before his death, Costelloe had been playing a hustler in hit play Gang of Seven.
