Julia Benjamin - Biography

Julia Benjamin, born February 21, 1957, American child star and adult actress, began her career in Hollywood at the age of 6. Julia's first interview and job was for a "Marx Toys" commercial with 3 little girls having a tea party. At age 7, she guest starred on "Valentines Day" with Jack Soo and Tony Franciosa, which brought her instant fame and recognition and she was considered for "best newcomer" in a television series. At age 8 Julia achieved stardom and worldwide recognition when she won the role of "Susie Baxter" with acclaimed actress Shirley Booth, who owned her show and starred as "Hazel". Shirley had her eyes set on Julia during hundreds of auditions over a six month period, knowing immediately during Julia's audition that she would be the new charge of Hazel. After the show closed, Julia went on to guest star in "My 3 Sons", "This is the Life" ( a religious series), "The Guns of Will Sonnet", "Mr. & Mrs. Bo Jo Jones", "The Jordan Chance", "Riptide", and daytime soaps "General Hospital" and "The Young and the Restless". "Rockford Files" star James Garner and the writers of his show, Stephen J. Cannell and David Chase (later of "The Sopranos") would write and request Julia specifically to guest star in the episode entitled "The Prisoner of Rosemont Hall", which included a horrific r*pe scene, and in "The Black Mirror", which won an Emmy in 1974. Julia has appeared in many television commercials, including those for "Sprite" and "Take 5 Little Casseroles" (on roller skates), as well as hundreds of voiceovers, doing dialects and dubbing from age 6, as well as character voices with Cheech and Chong. Her versatile range covers from 6 years to 90. Currently Julia is writing her autobiography (title to be announced soon), about her life in the glitz and glam of Hollywood to the dark side, when a tragic dog attack would change her life forever and expose the lies, secrets, and reality of what happens after the director yells "cut". Julia resides in Los Angeles with her son Branden, a chef. Julia is the daughter of Hollywood casting director Phil Benjamin. She is an avid animal lover, enjoys cooking with her son and traveling.
