Jun Urbano is a Filipino actor known for Juan Tamad at Mr. Shooli: Mongolian Barbecue (1991), M.O.N.A.Y (Misteyks obda neyson adres Yata) ni Mr. Shooli (2007) and Voltes V (1977).
Jun Urbano is a multi-faceted, Filipino actor and director, who is best known for his creation and portrayal of Mr. Shooli in the ‘90s hit political satire Mongolian Barbecue. Urbano is also the son of the late Manuel Conde, a National Artist for Film who directed and acted in classics like the Juan Tamad series (1940 to 1960) and Genghis Khan (1950).
In the 80s, he created Mr. Shooli, a Mongolian character who was astounded by the Philippines and its people. Mr. Shooli predated Hollywood's tactless foreigner, Borat. His dilemma about Filipinos were parallel to Borat's confusion about the American way of life.
