Katharine McEwan - Biography

Katharine was born and raised in a small coastal town in the north east of England. After spending most of her teenage years acting in local productions, Katharine decided to travel around the world. Her journey took her through Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia.Arriving in Los Angeles with a renewed passion and an even greater desire to study her craft, she was soon accepted into the summer program at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. The following fall she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and spent three years there continuing to develop her talent.Katharine's theatre credits include 'Private Lives' at Long Beach Playhouse (Amanda); 'The Verdi Girls' at Laguna Playhouse (originating the role of Breda); 'Night Mother' at Stage Lee Strasberg; and 'Hamlet' at The Next Stage (Queen Gertrude). Most recently she played Barbara in Theatre 40's Ovation Award nominated show, 'Black Coffee' by Agatha Christie.Katharine has played lead roles in numerous feature films, including 'Alien Armageddon,' directed by Neil Johnson, and 'Clubhouse' directed by Yuri Shapochka. She played a principal role in the new drama, 'You're Not You,' starring Oscar-winner Hilary Swank, and is attached to play the lead in the sci-fi feature, 'Space Command,' directed by Marc Scott Zicree.Katharine won 'Best Actress in a Short' for her work in 'Pluto,' directed by Heather de Michele. She also produced the short film, 'Patriots,' which received distribution through Shorts International. Most recently, she wrote, produced and starred in the feature length drama, 'Solitary,' which is due for release this summer.
