Kris Smith - Biography
Kris Smith was born in Salford, Manchester on 20th August 1978 and started playing rugby league at 14. He was quickly signed to Leeds at the age of 15 and in spite of serious injury setbacks went on to play for a number of leading UK clubs through his teens and into his 20s. Kris established himself as a star player going on to represent Great Britain against France and then contracted to play in that country before retiring from the game at 29 due to previous injurys. After retiring from professional Rugby, Kris worked closely with underprivileged kids and was soon signed to a leading UK model agency due to his unique look, down to earth manner and growing interest from the Fashion World. After meeting partner Dannii Minogue, Kris arrived on a visit to Australia over the Christmas of 2008 and quickly came to the attention of Chadwick Model Agency and in turn Myer, soon after being signed to an exclusive 3 month contract for house brand "Blaq". Following the resounding success of that association attracting overwhelming media attention and positive public response, Myer extended the contract as Kris assumed the unofficial role of men`s face of Myer appearing regularly on the runway and at media events with Myer fashion identity Jennifer Hawkins. Kris has established himself as an extremely popular and recognised face around Melbourne and has expanded his media experience co hosting the Fashion Television awards and secured an ongoing role with Myer and selected associations around Australia. In May of 2010 Kris added Television presenter to his repertoire landing the coveted Co Host role on Football Superstar Series 3 on Foxtel. Kris continues to travel between UK and his adopted Australia and in particular Melbourne and in July of 2010 he and partner Dannii became proud parents of son Ethan.
