Lauren Helm - Biography

Lauren Helm (born 1964 in New York) is an American former model. Lauren began modeling in 1982 for Vogue with photographer Denis Piel (Vogue, Nov 1982). This was followed by three Richard Avedon covers (Vogue: January, March, May 1983)Lauren Helm VOGUE covers. Also in 1983, Lauren was featured in five television commercials as part of the ad campaign for Calvin Klein Jeans created and directed by Richard Avedon. Through the mid 1980s Lauren appeared regularly on the covers of international fashion magazines photographed by Bill King (Italian Vogue, February 1983), Bill Silano (Town & Country, January 1984), Hiro (Italian Vogue, Oct 1986), James Moore (Italian Harper`s Bazaar), Toscani (Elle), Jim Varielle (Hampton Magazine). Lauren was featured in many articles and editorials in the pages of Vogue, Glamour, Self, Cosmopolitan, Harper`s Bazaar. She also appeared in numerous ads for major companies such as Avon, Coty Cosmetics, Pantene "Don`t Hate Me Because I`m Beautiful" shampoo ads, and in the late 1980s was featured in two ads in Revlon`s "Most Unforgettable Women of the World" cosmetic campaign (i.e., Harper`s Bazaar, June 1988).Lauren Helm graduated in 1982 from the Spence School in New York City. After more than a decade of modeling Lauren Helm completed in 1998 pre-medical studies at Columbia University ("Future MDs...", article by Abigail Beshkin, Columbia School of General Studies News, 16 April 2001) and graduated from College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University in May, 2003, ("Commencement 2003", P&S; Journal, vol 24, Winter 2004).
