Tim Maia (September 28, 1942 – March 15, 1998), born Sebastião Rodrigues Maia in Rio de Janeiro city, was a Brazilian musician known for his iconoclastic, ironic, outspoken, and humorous musical style. Maia contributed to Brazilian music within a wide variety of musical genres, including soul, funk, bossa nova, disco, romantic ballads, pop, rock, jazz, baião and MPB. Tim Maia was a singer, composer, maester, musical maker, multi instrumental, and brazilian businessman, he introducted Soul style on brazilian pop music and worldwize recognized like a brilliant singer brazilian. His musics were characterized by his hoarseness voice, always deep and loaded, winning biggest publics and consecrating many successes. Born and raised in the Rio de Janeiro city, where, in his childhood, he met people like Jorge Ben Jor that would became to be famous. In 1957, he found The sputniks group witch sang he and Roberto Carlos togheter. In 1959, he went to United States and had a first impression without Soul.
