Claire Griswold was born on October 30, 1936 in Honolulu, Hawaii, as Claire Bradley Griswold. She was an actress, known for The Alfred Hitchc*ck Hour (1962), Twilight Zone (1959) and Lawman (1958). She was married to Sydney Pollack.
She died on March 28, 2011 in West Hollywood, California.One of only two or three actresses seriously considered by Alfred Hitchc*ck for the lead role in Marnie (1964), should Tippi Hedren not work out for some reason. However, at the end of 1963, she instead retired from acting to be a full-time mother to the children she bore by husband Sydney Pollack.Mother of Rachel Pollack Sorman, Rebecca Pollack Parker and Steven Pollack. Steven died in a plane crash in 1993.Was an acting student of her future husband, Sydney Pollack.

Alfred Hitchcock considered her and Tippi Hedren for the lead role in Marnie (1964), since both of them were under personal contract to him. Even though, she and Hedren were in competition for the same role, there was no tension between them, since they were friends from their early modeling days in New York.
However, after watching her screen test, he decided that she wasn't the right person and chose Hedren. At the end of 1963, she retired from acting to be a full-time mother to the children she bore by husband Sydney Pollack.
