Yuli Rachmawati, better known as Julia Perez or Jupe (July 15, 1980 – June 10, 2017) was an Indonesian actress, dangdut singer, model, announcer, and businesswoman. She was locally dubbed a "sex bomb" for her unashamedly sexy performances. In the early 2010s, she became known for her outspoken statements against conservative Muslim clerics, who deemed her too sexy or "pornographic" for Indonesian audiences.In 2010, Perez announced her candidacy for local office in Pacitan, East Java province. In 2014, she revealed she had been diagnosed with Stage 2 cervical cancer. By 2016, the cancer had reached Stage 4 and she succumbed to the disease in June 2017.
