Katrina M. Andrews - Biography
Katrina grew up between Marbella, Spain and New York City in a very musical family. With a love of film instilled in her at a very young age, she wrote her first screenplay at fourteen years old and set her sights on directing and writing for film. Katrina earned her BA and worked on her MA in Film and Media Studies from The New School University in New York City.She and her husband, actor Russell Andrews, moved to Los Angeles in 1997 where she was hired at Imagine Entertainment as an assistant in the film development department. A year later, Aaron Sorkin brought her on for the Imagine TV produced show, "Sports Night."Katrina then took some time off to start her family and to focus on her writing. During that time she had her daughter, Anya, wrote two screenplays and a television pilot.She freelanced with NBC for three years as a Talent Coordinator and wrote for NBC's PSA campaign, "The More You Know."After having her second child, Kai, Katrina wrote a pregnancy handbook, Cool! You're Pregnant and wrote for LA Parent Magazine and B.A.B.Y Magazine for over two years.In 2011, Katrina enjoyed her first animation project with DreamWorks Animation on the new TV series, "DreamWorks Dragons Riders of Berk" based on the feature film, "How to Train Your Dragon."She recently fulfilled a dream and wrote her first novel, an erotic murder mystery based in New York City.She and her husband, Russell produce theater through their production company StageWalkers (www.stagewalkers.com) and recently returned from London, England where they produced one of the longest running black plays in US, The Diary of Black men (www.diaryofblackmen.com).Katrina has been married for over fifteen years and she and her family reside in Encino, California.
