Alan Alexander Milne, also known as A.A. Milne, was an English author, who was perhaps best known for his books about the famous anthropomorphic teddy bear Winnie the Pooh which was popularized by The Walt Disney Company as a cartoon character for various children's programs. Milne was also a noted writer, primarily as a playwright, before the huge success of Pooh overshadowed all of his previous works. Milne had also served in both World Wars, joining the British Army in World War I, and was also a captain of the British Home Guard in World War II.
